30 years of hot hatches
The one to have started the hot hatch phenonoman was the 1977 VW Golf Gti Mk1 - (although technically the first "true" hot hatch was the Simca 1100 dating from 1967/8).
The most iconic...was the Golf GTi
The first Golf was designed by the famous Italian automobile architect Giorgetto Giugiaro, of the ItalDesign design studio.

10. Fabrizio Giovanardi - 12 wins
Reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi has won 12 races in two seasons. In 2006 the Italian struggled with an under performing Astra but Vauxhall turned it around with the new Vectra in 2007 to give the Italian his first BTCC title.
